Unseen Plays: Awesome to have you Lil Buzzcut! Tell us a bit about yourself. When did you get started with music and where are you from?

LBC: Lil Buzzcut is a 27 year old dude from Sweden. I’m always trying to be myself no matter what. So I started this project under the pandemic. Found some beatmakers and got some ideas popping into my head while listening to them. I have always been good at improv so when my brain starts working I can write songs for hours on random subjects. So I went to instagram, posted a story and asked some friends about an artist’s name. Then one of my best friends back then though off buzzcut since I ALWAYS at least one time a year do a buzzcut. That Lil Buzzcut would be a good name. And I loved it. So that was the start. I picked up my handy recorder that I started with and just started to write songs.

Unseen Plays: Tell us a bit about your music! We see you’ve been at it since 2020. What inspires you to write?

LBC: My music is a huge mix. Damn I have tried what it feels like everything in the main genres. But I have always been struggling with mental health issues. And I’m a pop punk emo kid and I will defend it until the day I die. Because it was never a phase. So there is a lot of things that inspires me to write. Sometimes it just a stupid idea. Like my whole first album, FIREPIT. I was so snowed in on CORPSE and that dark trap/rap metal or whatever the genre is called. Got the idea of writing a song about an E-girl that fuck me in the ass. So I spinned off. Made an album in 2 weeks. Bought some beats and threw it out on every streaming platform. Sometimes something happens in life and I write about it. 2021 is a song based on my whole 2021. I struggled with a gambling addiction (I have been free for over a year now), and a lot of things happened that year. So when I released it at the beginning of 2022 it was like a huge relief for me. And sometimes I sit in my car driving and something pops up in my head. Then I write the idea down on my phone and make a song out of it. Shoes is a perfect example of a random idea song. One night I was like ‘’I’m gonna make a song about Shoes’’ well it did. Some inspiration from The Front Bottoms in that text etc.

Unseen Plays: Your latest release titled “SHS (Second Hand Shop)” is really great. Can you tell us a bit about this song? What’s it all about?

LBC: The song is all about never being someone’s second choice. ‘’I don’t wanna be your second hand shop’’ as one line of the lyrics goes. Is that I don’t wanna be that friend or maybe you are dating someone? And they never pick you first. You are their last choice to ask or second, third choice. I’m tired of that. So it’s a mix of kind of low self esteem mixed with don’t let them tear you down and use you. Never be someone’s last pick. Never get used to people taking you for granted. Because we all been there sometimes. And that feeling can eat our brain with self hatred and so on.

Unseen Plays: Which is your favorite LBC song? And why? You can choose any of the past years!

LBC: 2021. Because it’s strong, I got the mix so well. The music video is fire. And it was a messed up year. Now I can look back a little bit and see the progress I made that year. So it’s one of my favourite songs that I like to show people. That year will haunt me. I was such a mess. But I’m still here going day by day.

Unseen Plays: What can we expect from Lil  Buzzcut in the upcoming months? Any more releases coming through?

LBC: You guys are the first one to hear this. I have been waiting for this to be released. Yes, there are new songs on the way. I’m right now working on my second album called ‘’You are not invited’’ (Release date: TBA). But I will release one or two songs more before the album comes out. I’m aiming for 10 songs on the album and it’s gonna be pop punk and sad acoustic songs on it. Looking forward to release this album since I have worked hard on this project.

Unseen Plays: Do you write and produce your own music or do you work with other producers?

LBC: I write my songs from the bottom of my heart and all by myself. But I’m thankful to a lot of the beatmakers out there on Youtube. Since I can scream in the mic but not make these amazing beats I can put words on, that they do. So I buy lease from them when I have finished a song with lyrics. Then I record and mix/master my vocals all by myself. To get that final touch as I want it. Some of my songs are mixed by others. But like 95% of all the songs I have released I’m the one who made the mix and mastering. I’m getting better with every song I release.

Unseen Plays: Last random question, just for fun! If you had a spirit animal what would it be and why?

LBC: I did a quiz about this not long ago and I got a butterfly. Because I go through shit with lightness is life or what it says. But if I had to answer myself I would say my spirit animal is an Eagle. Because I like to see the world from above. I’m spontaneous and love exploring new places. I have figured out that it’s funnier to travel alone than with someone.

Unseen Plays: All right, where can people find you online? Your most active social media platform.

LBC: They can find my music on Spotify, Apple Music and YouTube. I promote a lot of my music on Instagram and Tiktok. I’m also very active on Snapchat. But you better slide DM’s first.
